First Year Clusters

Welcome New Beekeepers!

As you begin your beekeeping adventures, one of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself is to find other beekeepers to work with in the apiary. In order to assist you with making these connections, OCBA has created the First Year Cluster program. First Year Clusters are groups of new beekeepers that get together monthly with experienced beekeepers to learn from one another and practice the skills needed to keep bees. It is a fun way to learn from one another and improve your beekeeping practices.

You can join a First Year Cluster by clicking on the button below and completing the registration form by February 16, 2020. You must have completed a bee school to participate and be committed to meeting once a month with our Cluster. All members of the Cluster will benefit when everyone participates regularly.

If you do choose to submit your information then you will be placed into a small group of new beekeepers that are geographically close to you and matched with OCBA members that have experience keeping bees. You can expect your First Year Cluster to get together monthly at a group member’s apiary to inspect hives, share what is going on with your bees, discuss what to expect over the next month, refine your beekeeping skills, see how other people have chosen to set up their apiaries and anything else that the group decides is worthwhile. If you are interested in participating, willing to commit to getting together in an apiary once a month, and willing to host beekeepers at your apiary at least one time this year, then please fill out the registration form by clicking on the button below. You will be contacted once the Cluster for your area has been defined. You will learn a lot and have a good time doing it!

For those of you living outside of Orange County, we will do our best to include you in the First Year Cluster program. If we are able to do so, then it may require you to drive into Orange County to participate. Feel free to complete the registration form and someone will be back in touch with you.
