Have you ever wondered what to do with the wax your honey bees produce? Burton Beasley of Gaston County will present “Minding Your Own Beeswax!,” a look at methods for cleaning, rendering, and processing wax at our April OCBA meeting. He will also provide uses for and marketability of value-added products that can be produced from your rendered wax. So, don’t throw that wax away! Come, hear what Mr. Beasley has to say about the many uses of beeswax.
Burton Beasley is the owner and operator of Beasley Honey Company, managing colonies in Gaston, Lincoln, and Henderson counties for honey production, pollination, and nuc and queen production, as well as wax products from the hives. He is a North Carolina State Beekeepers Association Master Craftsman Beekeeper, an Eastern Apiculture Society Master Beekeeper, and a past-president of Gaston County Beekeepers Association.
Our OCBA meeting will be held on Thursday, April 9, at the Orange County Center of the NC Cooperative Extension located at 1020 US Highway 70 West in Hillsborough. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. with appetizers and desserts that members provide, followed by a presentation by one of our apprentices. Mr. Beasley will speak at 7:00 p.m., and our meeting will conclude with a brief coverage of business topics.
Please consider donating items for the end-of-program raffle. Fresh eggs, plants, tubers, or bulbs are good options for this time of year.
